Culture

Cultural tourism in Scotland is a valuable economic asset. Culture and history are significant components of Scotland’s public image.’Scotland’s historic and cultural icons are powerful and unique; they are frequently top of mind for tourists, particularly those who do not reside in Scotland,’ says Professor Murray Pittock from the University of Glasgow.

Indeed, cultural tourism in general is a valuable economic asset that Scotland should value. Scotland is well-known for the richness and diversity of its intangible cultural heritage (ICH), sometimes known as “living culture.” This category of cultural treasure, for which UNESCO developed and adopted the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, includes the nation’s and communities’ or groups’ living traditions. Such traditions are cultural manifestations acquired by groups and communities from their forefathers and passed down to their children.
